Financial Controller Belgium

About the role

Monument Re group is a growing international reinsurer established to operate as an asset intensive reinsurer and acquirer in Europe. To strengthen its financial controlling team, Monument Assurance Belgium is looking for a Financial Controller with professional knowledge of English and French. The Financial Controller will have a broad range of tasks and will provide support for financial analysis, reporting and improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

As part the controlling team, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of financial analysis
  • Support the quarterly-end and year-end financial closing;
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports (BEGAAP, MGAAP, NBB and Solvency II);
  • Assist in the financial integration of newly acquired portfolios;
  • Assist in annual forecast and budget process;
  • Support process improvement initiatives;
  • Maintain quality, integrity and consistency in all financial activities.

Role Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Controlling or equivalent;
  • You have 1-3 years of relevant experience, a first professional experience in an accounting department or as auditor in a Big4 is preferred;
  • Experience in an insurance company or in the financial sector is a plus; 
  • Knowledge of Solvency II and of accounting software systems is a strong asset;
  • Professional knowledge of French and English is required. Dutch is a plus; 
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office including solid Excel skills;
  • You are able to work autonomously in a collaborative way;
  • You are eager to learn, flexible, well organised, pro-active, rigorous and stress resistant;
  • You have strong communication skills;
