Risk Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Risk Officer to support Monument Luxembourg  growth and embed our operational risks and financial risks. Based in Luxembourg, and reporting directly to the Chef Risk Officer, the ideal candidate has a strong background in internal control framework and in the different aspects of financials risks. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the implementation of high quality risk management practices in Luxembourg and its branches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the risk and control self-assessment process for Monument Luxembourg and its branches, providing challenge and advice to the business as appropriate;
  • Manage the production of risk reviews, addressing Monument’s key operational risks, working with external specialists where appropriate;
  • Support the embedding of the Monument group risk management framework to acquired businesses and portfolios;
  • Make recommendations to ensure the risk to the business is minimized with a view to deliver improvements.
  • Advise, coach and facilitate with regard to internal control.
  • Support the preparation of risk function reports to the Risk committee and to the Board.
  • Follow up and improve the reporting of Risk Events.
  • Provide a solid challenge to the first line, including finance and actuarial.
  • Perform liability stresses under different lenses and understand both actuarial and market risks.
  • Prepare different regulatory reports SFCR, ORSA, RSR.
  • Perform 2nd line review of actuarial models, including assessments of the methodologies and assumptions used within models.
  • Plan and lead the review of risk management policies.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry and regulatory developments in relation to operational risk management; and
  • Ensure that professional standards are maintained, that all corporate requirements and reporting deadlines are met, that records are maintained, and that processes and controls are fit for purpose and meet internal and regulatory requirements.

Role Requirements

  • Knowledge of operational and financial risk management.
  • Minium 3 years experience.
  • Proven stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Comfortable keeping multiple projects progressing simultaneously and proven organizational skills.
  • Personal qualities including pro-activity, perseverance, resilience, flexibility and pragmatism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and convincing skills.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and entrepreneurial.
  • Proven ability to think and work independently, to provide direction and to challenge ideas in a constructive, practical and solutions-oriented manner.
  • Excellent business acumen, strong relationship management skills, along with the expertise to navigate and achieve the organization’s risk goals.
  • Fluent in English in combination with German and/or French.
