Software Development Lead – Brussels / Liège Belgium
About the role
Interested to join a strongly growing and dynamic international insurance company? To reinforce our IT team, Monument Belgium is looking for a Software Development Lead for our Brussels and Liège offices. You will oversee the Software Development practice within Monument Insurance European Services reporting to the local Head of IT and you will be the interface with Group IT structure to align/develop standard practices at Belgian level.
You will also be in charge of aligning the development practice across Belgian locations, define development standards and technologies that aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities
▪ You develop the required processes to ensure highest level of solution re-usability at local level.
▪ You lead and shape talented development team leads and teams, you support maturity growth and bring new technologies expertise in.
▪ You actively participate in business projects execution with the EA practice during solutioning and design phases before development.
▪ You manage/lead/coach our Software Development Teams (Individual Life & Corporate Life) relying on each Team lead in place.
▪ You grow and coach the team, address performance and potential dynamic issues as they may arise, ensure transversal practice alignment between Individual Life & Corporate Life development teams.
▪ You deliver and execute, launch and iterate regularly in an Agile/Scrum environment.
▪ you work with the local IT organisation to define and implement the processes (SDLC) and practices to make. the team effective, define software development best practices for development aligned with Group standards.
▪ You plan, prioritize and allocate workload for engineers, ensure the quality and timely completion of team tasks
▪ Together with the Architecture Practice, you clarify and refine business requirements to the required level and transform them into technical designs, write technical specifications and documentations for engineering team to execute upon.
▪ You work with the QA team to create functional test cases, review and perform quality assurance testing on work performed by engineering team.
▪ You develop and document coding standards and best practices.
Role Requirements
▪ 5 to 10 years hands on software development experience on OO context with exposure to API development & consumption of legacy Cobol applications.
▪ 4 years consistent experience as a technical lead for 10 or more full-time local development engineers in a software delivery structure using Agile/Srum.
▪ Ability to work both individually and as part of a collaborative team.
▪ Mastery of software development processes (SDLC), methods and trends: systems and technology tools.
▪ Excellent OO, data structures, algorithms and problem solving skills and ability to apply design patterns in architecture.
▪ Full-stack development experience & Agile software development management experience (Delphi, .Net, etc.).
▪ Ability to understand Company’s goals & objectives and translate them into effective technology solutions using required pragmatism.
▪ Experience in Insurance (Life Insurance).
▪ High standards with just-enough documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, continuous integration & deployment, and a preference for agile methods.
▪ You communicate fluently in English and French.
